- 1). Try Format Factory, the free program that converts AVI into a DVD format like VOB. Select the "DVD" tab in the program and use the "All to VOB" button under the tab to add your AVI file to the conversion process. Click the "Start" button in the main program screen to begin converting to VOB format.
- 2). Download and install Xilisoft, another free program conversion option. Use the green "+"symbol on the main screen to select your AVI movie, and select "VOB" under the "Profile" menu to tell it to output a DVD format. Click the red "Start" button to begin the conversion.
- 3). Use the conversion website Convertfiles.com for a way to convert without installing extra software. Upload your AVI file to the site and select "VOB" from the "Output Format" menu. Click "Convert" to create a link that, when clicked, will download your new VOB file.
