- 1). Purchase a breathable tree wrap or tree blanket from your local nursery. You must use something breathable rather than plastic wrap; the tree will steam on hot days if it's wrapped in non-breathable fabric.
- 2). Cover the tree's trunk with the tree wrap, working your way from the bottom up. Wind the wrap around the branches of the tree.
- 3). Secure any gaps with tape. You want to make sure that a brisk wind won't blow the wrap off. Place a space heater or strong light bulbs near the wrapped tree for added warmth.
- 4). Unwrap the tree after all danger of frost has passed.
