- 1). Open a can of oil-based spar varnish and stir gently with a paint stirrer. Pour the contents of the can into a paint tray.
- 2). Dip a china bristle brush into the varnish and apply to the epoxy-coated surface in the direction of the grain of the base material. Allow the varnish to dry thoroughly.
- 3). Repeat the application of varnish twice, for a total of three coats, allowing adequate drying time between them.
- 4). Recoat the epoxy surface every two years to maintain UV protection.
