- 1). Measure your kitchen so you will know what size refrigerator you will need. Most refrigerators come in standard sizes but some models can be ordered in bigger and smaller sizes.
- 2). Search online for all the stores carrying refrigerators in your area. Plan to visit at least three stores to get a better idea of what models can be purchased at what price. Some places may be planning sales or have overstock. They might be willing to make a deal.
- 3). Compare models. It is better to compare them in person rather than over the Internet, as a refrigerator is a major purchase and you want to make sure it will really fit your needs. Some standard features include ice makers and water dispensers. Many models come in energy efficient models, though this feature may cost more.
- 4). Decide which features you want. The freezer compartment can be on the left, the right, the top or the bottom of the unit, decide which position works best in your kitchen. If you entertain a lot you may want a refrigerator that can be easily adjusted to fit different sizes of food platters or have an extra large capacity.
- 5). Find the best combination of price and features for the model you want. More than one store will probably carry the model you are looking for. Once you have decided on the model find out if a store will be having a sale on it or which store offers it at the lowest price.
