I would suggest that most Americans eat an average of about 1 serving of fruit a day and maybe add another 1 vegetable.
The most popular "vegetables", eaten in America today are, Ketchup, spaghetti sauce, French fries and iceberg lettuce! Wow, an awesome amount of good nutrition there eh? Ok, so if we are concerned about out intake and that of our families, how in the world do we eat enough? Are they really serious about 5- 10 servings a day and even up to 10 -13, depending on who you read? If so, I need to get going and it's too late today.
Tomorrow I will go to the store and load up on fruits and vegetables and we will eat them.
A lot of us have the good intentions of that only to find that at the end of the week we throw away about 40% of what we brought home because it is all brown and no one will eat any of it if it doesn't look good anymore.
So now that fruit that cost us $2.
00 per pound five days ago has now ended up costing us $2.
80 per pound.
What is wrong with this picture? Actually I get 13 servings of fruit everyday and it costs quite a bit less than that and I am able to accomplish this in two sessions of about 30 seconds each! No, I am not one of those eating contestant guys who can cram 13 bananas in his mouth in 30 seconds! Gag.
