Guide Review - Book Review: Simply Delicioso
Hoffmann's book is fun to read with simple, yet tasty recipes with a Latin twist. The book has many color photographs of ingredients and finished dishes. There are over 125 recipes for appetizers, snacks, sandwiches, salads, soup, fish, meat, rice, vegetables, drinks, and desserts.
Most of the recipes call for common ingredients that are familiar to most people. However, a few of the recipes call for Latin ingredients that may be hard to find at the local grocery store. Unfortunately, there are no sources for the ingredients in the book. Instead, the book directs the reader to Hoffmann's web site for a list.
Also, the book is a little expensive; the retail price is $32.50. This is probably due to the fact that the book is hardcover and has lots of color photographs and glossy pages. Since this book is newly published, a less expensive paperback version is probably on the way.
Ingrid Hoffmann’s Short Biography: “Born in Colombia and based in Miami, INGRID HOFFMANN has been fascinated with food, cooking, and style since she was a little girl.
She started cooking with her mother, a Cordon Bleu chef, at such a young age that she needed a stool to reach the stove. With her mother she discovered not only a love of cooking but also a flair for entertaining, and in no time she developed her own distinctive style. Years later, Ingrid opened a successful restaurant and catering firm in Miami. She currently stars in Simply Delicioso on Food Network and Delicioso on Galavision/Univision, a Latin cooking and entertaining show.” (Simply Delicioso, Hoffmann)
