How to Use Bleach As a Grass & Weed Killer

    • 1). Wear rubber gloves and mix two cups of household bleach with 3/4 of water in a one gallon bucket. Mix well, to make sure the components are distributed thoroughly.

    • 2). Funnel the bleach and water mixture into a spray bottle, filling the bottle 3/4 of the way and replacing the sprayer.

    • 3). Spray weeds and grass you wish to kill with the bleach and water mixture. Be careful not to spray surrounding plants that you do not wish to damage.

    • 4). Monitor the progress of the weeds, reapplying spray each day until the weeds begin to die.

    • 5). Till dead weeds to draw the roots to the surface and spray the roots with the bleach mixture to ensure weeds do not re-root. Till the dead plant material into the soil and avoid planting in the soil for at least two weeks, which will give the bleach enough time to break down and dissolve into the soil.
