How to Plant Lucky Bamboo in a Flower Pot

    • 1). Select a clay, wooden or ceramic flower pot for your lucky bamboo. Choose a flower pot not much larger than the root system of your lucky bamboo as Dracaena plants grow best when their roots are slightly crowded. Ensure that the flower pot you choose has sufficient drainage holes to prevent the roots of your plant from rotting.

    • 2). Add as much fresh, well-draining potting soil mix to the bottom of the flower pot as is necessary to ensure that the lucky bamboo will sit at the same level as it did in its nursery container when planted.

    • 3). Position the lucky bamboo in the center of the prepared flower pot. Fill the flower pot with additional well-draining potting soil mix. Pack down the surface of the potting soil to secure your lucky bamboo in the flower pot.

    • 4). Water the lucky bamboo immediately after planting to thoroughly moisten the potting soil. Mist the surface of the soil with water from a spray bottle every two to three days to maintain the appropriate soil moisture.
