As much as I love my kitty Pickles, I also have an obsession with decorating my house in a way that expresses me.
I suppose Pickles is an expression of me, in a way, but those awful-looking traditional cat towers are definitely not a message I want to communicate.
Pickles doesn't really seem to be into them that much either, considering they get pushed back into a back room or in a corner away from all the action.
Refusing to be plagued by such a decorative atrocity, I did a bit of digging online to find stylish alternatives that would add to the ambiance, as well as make both of us happy.
(Namely, to provide Pickles with his own pieces of furniture so as to reduce his use of mine.
) I found a couple of product lines that offer several options to use throughout the house.
Not all are tower-like, but all are great places for Pickles to lounge while making his own fashion statement.
Kittypod has several cute options, including the Prrounge and the Couchette, which are made of recycled cardboard materials.
I also use Kittypod as an impromptu footrest and drink holder, and the cute kitty-tunnel design doesn't take away from the rest of the living room.
In other rooms, I've used Square Cat Habitat Buddha shelves on the wall in place of a cat tower.
I got to pick the colors of the shelves, and people are always startled to see Pickles hanging out on the wall.
I also used a couple of those under windows, since they're easy to keep clean and ultra-modern looking.
I also found a really neat-looking cat tower that fit into the corner of my little reading nook/sunroom.
The Catemporary Cat Corner takes up little space and gives Pickles the chance to look down on me while I read.
Finally, I found a cat tower that I love that I keep in my bedroom.
While not as fancy as these other products, the Ace Forrester Cat Tree takes up little space, has a hammock on the top, and it avoids the awkward look that most traditional cat towers maintain.
Now that Pickles has as much furniture as I do, we're both happy in the fashion statements we make in our home!
