New Years Eve in Witney
As the old rock group Slade bawls ‘It's Christmas' and with this belting message it certainly echoes the start of the annual counting down of the days to the end of another year.......
The big question on everybody's lips around this time of the year is.... what shall we do or where should go for this New Years Eve?
For some people New Years Eve is the highlight of the year and an absolute scorcher of a night and that's not just the kissy kissy bit at the stroke of twelve.......but for others it can be a huge sigh of relief at getting rid of another wretched year and in hoping for a brighter new one.
For everybody else who has had a OK sort of a year New Year's Eve can sometimes be somewhat annoying and uncomfortably awkward especially if it seems that everyman and his proverbial set of dogs seems to have landed an invite to somewhere nice whilst you and your partner are stuck at home with the leftover Christmas turkey aided with your own ridiculous invite to stay in at ‘Ourgate' listening and gently falling asleep sideways with glass of cheap bubbles in one hand watching the ever eternal Jools Holland welcoming in the New Year with guests that look like they have been wheeled in from previous year!
But probably and in all honesty staying in and watching good old Jools is not perhaps such an awful thing to be stuck indoors too.... after all ...it is more of a ‘we're stuck at home' with a cheap glass of plonk in one hand or now perhaps on the floor toasting in the New Year whilst it seems all of our neighbours judging by the lack of lights on in their houses (not saying you've looked) are all out enjoying their spectacular and glitzy New Years Eve night!!!
So before the big night is smack bang upon us (and yes you've guessed it is you that we are talking about here-you know... stuck on the sofa with that cheap glass of bubbles looking out from behind the household curtains) start looking now to make sure that your New Years Eve this year is a special one.
There are lots of places to look for a New Years Eve event within the Witney area and a good place to start with is the local online guides that are right at your fingertips as these sites are generally updated really well and are a great place to catch up with what's on....it is also worth scanning your local newspaper for adverts regarding New Year's Eve events , and get out and look at the village notice boards that are around the neighbourhood as these can sometimes carry posters of what's on.........so go on look around and find your exciting night out.... and yes you can ditch old Jools for this year as he undoubtedly won't mind.....so get planning and Happy searching...and above all Happy New year!
