When we think of tropical bedding most of us think only of bright garish colors and huge bold floral patterns.
Of course, there is a place in some homes for bright and bold.
In the correct setting large floral prints work very well.
However, in other rooms, usually smaller in size there is a new style in tropical bedding that is so welcoming that few of us can turn away.
The primary goal when selecting tropical bedding for our bedroom decor is to find the perfect pattern that will complement the room, not overwhelm it.
It is true that some of us in the past have rushed out at the first sign of spring and purchased wide stripes decorated with orange and pink hibiscus in hopes of bringing a glimpse of the new season into our homes.
Within a few days most of us look at our selection and wish we could return it.
This season our warmer weather comforters, sheets, pillow cases, duvet covers, and bed skirts have arrived in the true tropical style.
The background colors are no longer brilliant or stark.
Instead, there are subtle creams and very delicate beige's to choose from.
The patterns may still be floral but instead of those huge blooms covering our beds we find well proportioned vines with flowers that range from small hibiscus blooms to a design that reminds us of Pennsylvania Dutch.
For those who have traveled to the islands the style is easily recognized.
Unlike what so many of us may think, sheets and pillow cases in most homes in the warmer regions are very cool in tone.
Remember, those who live in the warm climates are not looking for warmth at night, but rather to climb between cool patterns and lightweight fabrics.
