- 1). Use a hair dryer set on a medium setting to apply heat to a corner of the contact paper. The heat from the hair dryer will soften the adhesive.
- 2). Keep the hair dryer a few inches above the contact paper and move in a steady, back-and-forth motion. While applying the heat, begin to gently pull the corner of the contact paper away from the drywall.
- 3). Continue applying heat and slowly pulling the contact paper off the drywall until you have removed all traces of the contact paper.
- 4). Fill a container with a citrus-based adhesive remover. Dip a clean sponge into the remover. Scrub the drywall with the sponge to remove the adhesive residue that the contact paper left behind.
