NLP: How to Reprogram Your Unconscious Mind

As you may already be aware by reading this article, our consciousness is only the tip of the iceberg of the mind of which we have access.
It is like a vast internet, but it is in the dark.
Do you remember when you first approached the internet? I have memories of using "Gopher" on a system at the local university.
When I looked at the web address, I thought it said ".
c o r n" What do I look for? How do I look for it? At first you don't know.
Some of you were born with a mouse in your hand, but there was a first time, like using your first words, or walking for the first time.
So here you are with this vast internet and you know your conscious mind should be able to access it, but where is it? Where are the controls? And, what do I do once I have access? In the beginning of my NLP studies, the burning question in my mind was how to connect with, interact, and get results from the unconscious mind.
Through my NLP studies I found out ways to do so.
My first suggestion is to approach the unconscious mind as a friend, and treat it with respect and kindness.
Love it, and it will reveal its secrets to you.
Second, the unconscious mind makes associations.
When you smell bread baking, chances are you will feel calm and happy.
Start to notice how this works in your own mind.
Third, becoming more aware of your thinking processes will give you clues as to where the unconscious mind (UM) interacts with the conscious mind.
This is not a "silver bullet" tip, it is one for those with a drive to understand the inner workings of the mind.
Fourth, learn about Submodalities.
Submodalities are the way we encode our thoughts, where we store them and how we store them.
By shifting Submodalities we can alter the signals we get from the UM to better suit our desired outcomes.
As an example, imagine a situation that annoys you, not something huge, a medium annoyance.
Now, as you imagine that, get a picture in your head.
OK, quickly...
Turn that picture black and white, shrink it down to the size of a postage stamp and throw it out to the horizon where it falls over and dust comes up.
That's right.
How do you feel about that annoyance you had now? A bit different I bet.
Now, imagine the possibilities! Fifth, if you have something that bothers you from the past, imagine a time before it even could have happened.
Go back in time in your mind to that place before it happened.
Now notice if you still feel bothered.
Interesting, huh? NLP contains many more ways to reprogram the unconscious mind.
