- Small grants can be awarded by posting your school's needs to Donors Choose. Fund a field trip, pay for an art program, purchase sporting equipment or share some other need with donors who may pay for your need fully or collectively with others.
- Schools with at-risk students can receive special funding from AT&T. 172 schools were awarded $29 million in grants from the company and its foundation.
- To prevent drop-outs, the federal government at ed.gov provides funding (discretionary/competitive grants) to schools with at-risk students.
- A number of colleges offer grants to high schools. For example, MIT has awarded grants to high schools who put programs in place to encourage the development of technologies to improve the world.
- Though not always specifically looking to give grant money to high schools, private philanthropic groups and foundations accept grant applications under certain parameters. Visit www.foundationcenter.org for more information.
