- 1). Perform a cleaning on the patio furniture using an ammonia-based cleaner to remove dust and dirt, or if the furniture is new, wipe it down with paint thinner.
- 2). Determine if there are areas you don't want to paint, and use painter's tape to keep those areas from over spray or paint splash.
- 3). Protect the surrounding areas from spills or paint droplets with a drop cloth.
- 4). Spray outdoor primer on the furniture with an even coat, and let it dry for at least the time it states on the container. Make sure to cover the entire surface and underneath corners. The primer ensures a pliable surface for the paint to bond.
- 5). Give the furniture the initial coat of Krylon fusion paint using a sweeping motion from left to right. This will eliminate runs in the paint.
- 6). Inspect the furniture to see if you need another coat of paint. Apply a second coat in the same manner as the first.
