Call for Solutions on Health Disparities
The American Public Health Association (APHA) is developing a database of community interventions that address health disparities. To add your program to the database, submit information to http://www.apha.org/NPHW/solutions/. The database, which will go live on April 5, will offer health professionals, the private and public sector and communities information about projects and interventions that are helping to eliminate all types of health disparities. In addition, APHA will highlight some of these important best practices during National Public Health Week, April 5-11.
Communities across the country are struggling with widespread disparities in all aspects of health care. It is time to move from statistics, which have vividly shown the widespread problems that result from health disparities, to projects/interventions that guarantee quality care for all.
Many communities are tackling these tough problems with innovative programs that others can adopt. APHA is collecting and highlighting a wide variety of these best practices to inspire other people who work on health care issues and want to reduce health disparities in their communities.
During National Public Health Week (April 5-11), APHA will highlight on-the-ground examples of local projects using community projects/interventions to reverse the trends in health disparities. In addition to promoting community-based success stories, APHA also will use the database to offer health professionals, the private and public sector and communities projects/interventions to help in the battle to eliminate all types of health disparities including but not limited to:
