The 2015 Daytime Emmy Awards on Pop was the network's most-watched live event in eight years, dating back to the premiere of Live on the Red Carpet with Joan and Melissa at the Academy Awards. The exclusive live television broadcast was seen by nearly 900,000 viewers on April 26, 2015.
The soap extravaganza also ignited fans on social media. It was the second highest ranked show in Nielsen's Twitter TV Ratings for the night, just behind Game of Thrones.
The live awards show out-ranked the 2015 Radio Disney Music Awards, WWE Extreme Rules and Keeping up with the Kardashians in the Nielsen Twitter TV rankings.
Pop aired two telecasts of the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on Sunday, April 26, including a live broadcast at 8pm ET and 5:00pm PT with a repeat at 11pm ET and 8pm PT.
After decades as a ratings hit -- the Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony scored 14-22 million viewers back in the 1990s -- and broadcast rights rotating between ABC, CBS and NBC, the show went to the CW in 2009. In 2012 and 2013, it aired on HLN, but was dropped off TV completely in 2014 and was only broadcast online.
In March, Pop announced that the ceremony would return to TV through a multi-year deal between the network and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The daytime soaps have a strong presence on Pop, which currently airs same-day repeats of The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful.
The 2015 Daytime Emmy Awards television broadcast was a collaboration between the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), Pop and Michael Levitt Productions.
