- 1). Strip 1 inch of insulation from each end of your wire.
- 2). Bend the wire in half and begin wrapping it neatly from the middle around the nail. Wrap it as many times as you are able.
- 3). Attach the uninsulated ends of the wire to the terminals on your battery.
- 4). Hold the nail close to different types of metal. Some metals will be attracted to your magnet and some will not.
