- 1). Click the "Start" button. Select "Computer" from the pop-up menu. Click on "Add/Remove Programs" in the window that appears on the screen.
- 2). Scroll down until you see "oggcodecs." Click on "oggcodecs." Select "Remove" from the menu that appears beneath it. Close the window by clicking the red "X' in the upper right corner. Restart the computer.
- 3). Download the free-to-use DirectShow Filters add-on program to the desktop. Double-click the file once downloaded. Follow the installer instructions to load the file into the Windows operating system. Quit the installer when done. Restart the computer.
- 4). Launch the Windows Media Player program by clicking "Start" and selecting it from the "All Applications" menu. Click the "File" menu at the top of the program's main screen. Select "Open File" from the drop-down menu.
- 5). Select the video file on the hard drive that requires a DirectShow player to function. Click the "Open" button at the bottom of the window.
- 6). Press the "Play" button on the control panel beneath the Windows Media Player's video screen. Watch the video that can now be played. Press the "Stop" button when you are finished watching. Quit the Windows Media Player program.
