- 1). Remove the cylindrical tissue holder shaft. Position the tooth of a grout removal tool on the grout between the edge of the toilet paper holder and the wall.
- 2). Drag the grout removal tool over the grout, working around all four sides of the holder to cut through the grout.
- 3). Place the edge of a chisel in the gap between the edge of the toilet paper holder and the wall. Position the chisel as parallel to the wall as possible to prevent the chisel's sharp edge from digging into the wall.
- 4). Tap the chisel gently with a hammer, and pry the holder away from the wall. Finish by pulling the holder off the wall when the adhesive has been adequately removed.
- 1). Remove the tissue holder shaft from between the two holder arms. Feel the underside of the base of one arm of the holder, or visually inspect underneath the base, for a small set screw.
- 2). Loosen and remove the set screw from the underside of one holder arm, using a hex wrench. Pull the arm, and, if necessary, the escutcheon behind it, off the metal bracket underneath the arm. Repeat this step with the second holder arm.
- 3). Unscrew and extract the one or two screws that anchor the two mounting brackets to the wall, using a regular or Phillips screwdriver. Remove the brackets.
- 4). Unscrew and remove any wall anchors, using the Phillips screwdriver. Grip a stubborn anchor with a pair of needle-nose pliers, and twist it counterclockwise to extract it.
