Razor brand scooters feature flat metal skateboard-like platforms with wheels on the front and the back and have a pole at one end with handle bar that go up to the rider's waist. Riders power themselves by pushing themselves along with one foot and then letting their momentum carry them along for a set amount of time, much like a skateboard. Also like a skateboard, a number of different tricks can be performed on these razor scooters. Always wear protective gear when attempting Razor scooter tricks. - Jumping, also known as "ollying," is a beginner-level trick on the Razor scooter as it allows you jump with the scooter still against your feet, which can help you jump up on curbs or off ledges or begin a spin. The best way to do this is to pull up on the handlebars of the razor scooter while jumping simultaneously, allowing the scooter to catch air. This will take some practice, so it may be best to try to do this on a relatively soft surface like grass without any momentum. Once you've got the hang of an olly trick, try doing it with some momentum built up and land it without falling down or having to step off the Razor scooter.
- Grinds, which are also skateboarding tricks, can be done on scooters as long as you have speed and balance while you are riding. Gather speed on your scooter and then jump or olly onto an edge, like a curb or and edge of a wall. Land on this edge in the middle of the scooter, between the wheels, so you literally grind along the surface. As you begin to run out of speed, olly again and allow the jump's momentum to carry you. Doing this regularly can wear down the bottom of your Razor scooter however and can possibly damage it beyond repair.
- Spinning the razor scooter 360 degrees in a complete circle is a more complex trick, which should only be performed by experienced Razor riders. To do this trick, riders must be able to get a large amount of air when they olly, then kick the scooter in a clockwise or counter clockwise direction. The whole time they must hold onto the handles, helping the Razor scooter itself to spin beneath them and end up under their feet when they land. This trick takes strength and skill in order to do it correctly but once it is mastered is one of the flashier tricks that can be done while riding a Razor scooter.
