- 1). Soak the seed in a bowl of tepid water. Allow the seeds to remain soaking for four hours.
- 2). Prepare 4-inch pots by placing a coffee filter in the bottom to cover the drainage holes. Fill the pots with potting soil. Prepare as many pots as you have seeds to plant. The soil line should fall a half-inch below the rim of the pot.
- 3). Water the soil thoroughly until the water comes out of the bottom drainage holes. Place on a drainage rack to allow excess water to drain away.
- 4). Place one seed in the middle of the pot on top of the soil. Push the seed so the bottom portion of the seed has good contact with the soil, but do not cover the seed. It needs light to germinate.
- 5). Cover the pot with clear plastic and place the pots in a sunny warm location. The temperature should remain around 75 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Placing the pots in direct sunlight will makie it too hot for the seeds.
- 6). Check the soil every day for moisture. Water to keep the soil evenly moist, but not soggy wet. It can take one to six months for the seeds to germinate. Remove the plastic when the seeds germinate.
- 7). Place the Dracaena cinnabari in an east-facing window. You can use a south or west window, but do not place it in direct sunlight.
- 8). Place the plant in a room that is no warmer than 75 degrees Fahrenheit, but no lower than 65 degrees Fahrenheit. The cooler or hotter temperatures will stop the Dracaena cinnabari growing.
- 9). Allow the soil to dry out between watering. Stick your finger into the soil up to the first knuckle. If the soil feels dry, it is time to water.
- 10
Fill small dishes with pebbles and fill it with water. Do not allow the water to go past the top of the pebbles. Place the Dracaena cinnabari pot on top of the pebbles for increased humidity. - 11
Mist the leaves with a sprayer bottle of soft water. The soft water helps the plant to grow better. - 12
Trim away any brown that is on the leaves. You do not need to remove the entire leaf.
