- 1). Download and install the one-month trial version of PaintShop Pro (now known as PaintShop Photo Pro). This will give you an opportunity to study the program thoroughly before you actually commit to purchasing it (see "Resources").
- 2). Consult the various materials and study aids that Corel makes available to PaintShop Pro users. This includes the help menu, the Corel Learning Center and the online tutorials available at the Corel site (see "Resources").
- 3). Join some of the many online sites that offer free tutorials related to PaintShop Pro. Joining these sites will also provide you access to their forums. In the forums, you will be able to ask questions of those who have been using PaintShop Pro for many years, drawing on their experience to solve your problems (see "Resources").
- 4). Buy introductory books that will help you better understand how to use the program. Aim for books built around projects. Books to consider are "Picture Yourself Learning Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3" by Diane Koers, "Photo Restoration and Retouching Using Corel PaintShop Photo Pro" by Robert Correll and "Paintshop Pro 8 for Dummies" by William Steinmetz and David C. Kay (see "Resources").
