Everyone has received a phone call from an unknown caller.
In the last few years I've received hundreds.
Most of the time I just ignore them, but when they keep calling and leave missed calls on my cellular phone I naturally want to find out who it is.
I'm sure you feel the same way.
The majority of the time you can almost guarantee it is a marketing company.
But sometimes it could be someone who is important to you, like a family member or friend.
So it's important you follow up on all the unknown calls you receive.
The first step you want to take when tracing an unknown caller is to hit the popular search engines on the Internet.
I recommend you use Google, because their database contains the most indexed webpages.
Then simply search for the phone number within quotation marks and if you're lucky the search will return some interesting webpages with information on the unknown caller.
If you suspect the unknown caller is a telemarketer you should search for some caller complaint websites.
Most of these websites are discussion forums.
It's very likely that one or more members of the website have received a call from the same number as you.
So you'll probably come across some information on the number.
From my own experience I can tell you that by using the above methods you're very likely to find out the person or company behind the unknown number.
But that's not always the case.
It can sometimes be a nightmare to trace cellular phone numbers.
Because in general cellular numbers are very private.
But there is hope - there are actually third party companies out there who have massive databases of cellular numbers belonging to people in the USA.
These type of companies usually charge a one time fee for lifetime access.
And usually they'll let you try their service out before you fork out your cash.
You'll instantly find out the name, address, date of birth and gender of any unknown caller.
