Unity candles are growing more and more common at weddings. Since purchasing a custom unity candle can be expensive, many couples are deciding to personalize their own. There are several types of paper available to help you customize your unity candle. - Vellum is a semi-transparent paper that can be printed on. It is one of the most common papers used to embellish unity candles. Typically, a poem, quote or scripture significant to the couple is printed onto vellum, cut out and then attached to the unity candle with pins. Vellum can be purchased at your local craft or hobby supply store and is fairly inexpensive.
- Adhesive photo paper can be a very personal way to decorate your unity candle. Buy a pack of inexpensive adhesive photo paper at your local office supply store. You will also need an ink-jet printer. Choose the photos you want displayed on the candle and print them onto the adhesive photo paper. Cut out the photos, remove the adhesive backing and stick the photos onto your unity candle.
- Printed paper is available in a wide variety of designs and colors and is inexpensive at most craft stores. To decorate your unity candle, buy one sheet of printed paper in the design of your choice, and cut a 3-inch-wide, 5-inch-long strip. Secure the paper around the candle with pins, transparent tape or craft glue. If you use glue, allow the candle to dry for at least 24 hours before using it.
