- The hard drive is sold in 60 gigabyte and 120-gigabyte sizes and fits on top of the Xbox 360 console. It retails for $100 to $150, depending on the storage capacity. The 512-megabyte memory unit retails for about $30.
- Both hard drives and memory units can be used to store game files, although the hard drive has more than 100 times the storage capacity. Although memory units cannot be used for saving maps, they do have the convenience of being easily transported from place to place and used in a friend's console.
- Microsoft offers extra maps to be downloaded for the Xbox 360 console through its Xbox Live service. Popular games, like Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War 2, frequently offer new content for download. Check under the section "Game Marketplace" when you turn on your Xbox 360. Check the file size to ensure you have enough storage space, as well as the number of Microsoft points needed.
- After download, new maps should be integrated seamlessly into your game and console. You should be able to play the maps as soon as they are saved onto the hard drive. Just turn on the game and enjoy.
- If you need to move maps from one hard drive or another or delete them from memory, the process is simple. On the Xbox 360 dashboard, go to "My Xbox," followed by "System Settings" and "Memory." Once on this screen you can choose a storage device and then the type of content--downloaded maps should be listed under "Games"--and then copy or delete as needed.
