How To Housebreak Your Puppy

Housebreaking your puppy can be quite a task.
It takes a lot of patience and you have to be consistent.
Here are some tips and strategies on how to housebreak your puppy.
One of the main things to remember is that your puppy really does want to please you.
It is up to you to make him understand what you want and expect from him.
Which is why you must be consistent when you are housebreaking.
This way he won't be confused.
You will need to watch your puppy closely while you are housebreaking him.
Puppies are like babies, they can't hold it very long.
If he quits playing and starts running around sniffing, he is looking for a place to relieve himself so get him outside quickly.
Other signs are whining, walking around in circles while sniffing the floor and running to the door.
While housebreaking your puppy he will need to relieve himself quite often.
So you should take him outside first thing in the morning, after he eats, after he drinks and after he wakes up from a nap.
After he goes in the appropriate spot give him lots of praise so he knows that he did a good job.
If he knows that you are happy, he will be happy too.
Don't let your puppy have the run of the house while housebreaking him.
Get a crate for him.
Make sure that it is not too big for him or he will relieve himself in one corner and sleep in the other corner.
If it is the correct size for him he won't relieve himself in it because puppies generally won't mess where they sleep.
Try to keep the same schedule everyday.
Be patient and remember at first there will always be accidents.
But if done right housebreaking your puppy will not take long.
Follow these guidelines on how to housebreak your puppy and soon you and your puppy will be happy and that makes it all worthwhile.
