- 1). Use a comb to separate your side bangs. Clip the rest of your hair out of the way in sections, so that it does not fall in the way of your side bangs as you straighten them. Squeeze a very small amount of product into your hand and rub your palms together. Pull your hands through your bangs to equally distribute the product. The type of product you use depends on your style and budget. It can include straightening cream, oil or hair grease, mouse, gel, or an specialty product that suits your hair type. No matter what kind you use, you need a very small amount. Too much can cause hair to look limp or oily.
- 2). After you determine which side of your face you'd like your side bangs to fall in, pull your bangs through the flat iron in 1-inch sections, pulling the iron to the side you'd like your bangs to fall on. Repeat this step until you have used the flat iron to straighten all of your bangs. Do not try to flatten larger than one inch sections at a time, as that could cause a build-up of steam and also damage the top sections while not straightening the middle of the clump of hair.
- 3). Use a comb to smooth your hair into the shape or style you want and spritz lightly with hairspray that allows for movement. Remove the clips from your hair and allow it to fall naturally. From here, you can chose the style you will use for the rest of your hair, or spritz the rest of your hair with some hairspray and go!
