- 1). Select "File" > "Open," and from the browsing window that opens locate and select the Photoshop file, or PSD, on your computer. Then select the "Open" button again and then select "OK." Your PSD will open in your workspace.
- 2). Select the "File" menu again. This time, select "Save As."
- 3). Enter a name for your file in the "File Name" field and select a location to save your file to.
- 4). Select the drop-down menu next to "Format" and select "JPEG." The JPEG dialog box will then open.
- 5). Select the "Image Quality" as Low, Medium, or High. You can also drag the quality slider from left to right, or pick a number between 1 to 12---with 12 being the highest quality. The lower the image quality, the smaller the total file size.
- 6). Select a "Baseline" format option: Baseline Standard, Baseline Optimized, or Progressive. "Baseline Standard" is recognized by most browsers. "Baseline Optimized" increases the color quality of the image, at the same time slightly reducing the file size. "Progressive" creates an image file that is gradually displayed as it is download on the web. These files are larger in size, require more RAM for viewing and are not supported by all Web browsers.
- 7). Press "OK" in the JPEG dialog box to save your options.
