- 1). Visit a local clothing store, such as Wal-Mart, K-Mart or Target, to get an idea as to what style of shirt you would like to design into a flame shirt. Decide if you want a short-sleeve or long-sleeve shirt, a square-neck or V-neck shirt, and a fitted or loose-fitting shirt. Try the shirts on to see what looks best on your frame.
- 2). Pick out what color shirt you would like to use in the style you have decided on. Purchase the shirt.
- 3). Open a new Microsoft Word document. This will be your template for holding the flame designs.
- 4). Visit a free clip-art site, such as iclipart.com, clipartcastle.com or 1clipart.com, to view flame images. Download and save those images that you like.
- 5). In your Microsoft Word document, insert all of the flame pictures you have downloaded. Print out the images in color on regular printer paper.
- 6). Lay out the shirt you purchased on an ironing board. Cut out the flame images and places them on the shirt where you think they will look best.
- 7). Print out the flame images a second time but on iron-transfer printer paper. Cut out the iron-on images and place on the shirt. Iron on the flame images where you want them. After the iron-on transfer is complete, let shirt hang for 30 minutes before wearing.
