Wedding Dress Tricks: How to Fit the Gown Perfectly

Nobody has a perfect figure, so everybody type is going to have some sort of problem finding the perfect wedding gown.
Bridal designers, knowing this, have come prepared with many tricks up their sleeves.
First, correct undergarments can make or break a dress.
Searching out the perfect dress online, then trying it on can be a devastating experience.
The vision works, but the actuality falls short.
The solution is correct undergarments.
Frequently, the correct bustier, on Spanx or strapless bra or all together can really mold the dress to the body.
Undergarments are crucial, so should be available before the gown's first fitting.
Another way to achieve the perfect dress is to split sizes if that is possible.
Many women are different sizes above and below the waist.
Many designers will split the size if say a bride is size 8 on top and size 12 on the bottom.
Such splitting also guarantees that the gown will not lose its design integrity, details or proportion.
Bridal gowns are typically designed for a woman who is 5 foot 8 inches tall.
The majority of brides will be taller or shorter, yet merely taking up the hem will destroy the proportion of the dress.
For the gown to fit properly, the entire garment needs to be realigned, especially if the bride is significantly taller or shorter than 5 foot 8 inches.
Beyond these tricks, brides need to be sensible and honest about their figure flaws, choosing gowns which emphasize their attributes and minimize their negatives, no matter what the original vision for the gown.
Not every figure can wear Cinderella's bouffant princess-style gown.
Even brides who are tall and slender, considered the ideal figure, must pay careful attention to detail or even they could wind up looking like tubular columns.
The willowy woman needs a gown emphasizing her curves, though it is truethis type of figure will have the most choices in wedding gowns.
The petite bride has a different challenge as she may easily find herself buried in tulle.
A petite bride could confidently choose a mermaid style gown as long as the bottom does not have too much volume.
A puffy dress is a no-no as are gowns with excessive ornamentation, both tending to overwhelm the smaller woman.
Many women today have an apple shape.
This type of figure should search out gowns with structure around the middle, such as a corseted bustier,to de-emphasize thickness in the waist.
The pear-shaped woman, on the other hand, has a greater variety of choice.
An empire style, for instance, flows loosely and freely, often highlighting the decollete while minimizing the hips.
Another good choice is the A-line which, again, accentuates the waist, hides the hips and elongates the torso.
Other common figure types are the short and long torsos.
Brides with short torsos could find happiness in a gown with a drop waist or cut in empire style.
Conversely, the long torsoed -woman creates the illusionof a slightly higher waist with an elongated empire cut and detailing on the bust.
Most important of all to bear in mind is that the bride not only wants to look beautiful but to feel comfortable in her own skin and in her dress.
Ultimately, each bride should listen to herself alone in picking the gown that she will wear to her wedding.
Yes, also listen to the experts and, perhaps, also to your mother, but, in the final analysis,it is the bride who wants to feel she is looking her best on her wedding day.
