Hornets Look to be Much better vs Sports Book Odds with Fresh Coach

The question to be answered at the sportsbook is how much the New Orleans Hornets will be greater with a new head coach in Monty Williams. He will be the franchise's 9th coach in their history. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.

The Hornets appointed Monty Williams who had been an assistant at Portland since 2005. It'll be intriguing to see how the Hornets do next year since they were a big failure this past season against the NBA odds at the offshore sportsbook.

Sports Book odds liked the Hornets too much this past season according to what they had done in prior years. New Orleans flopped to a 37-45 straight up record past season. They were 37-44-1 versus the spread at the offshore sportsbook. Part of their issue was the trauma to star point guard Chris Paul. The Hornets really struggled to cover the point spread and win matches when he was injured. Paul will be at full strength next season, so they're likely to simply be greater then.

New Orleans went with Williams over a number of other applicants including Boston assistant coach Tom Thibodeau who was determined Chicago's new head coach. Jeff Bower, New Orleans' general manager, thinks the Hornets got the best coach offered. Even if they had employed Thibodeau as the head coach, New Orleans was going to bring in Williams. Now it'll be all on Williams. Chris Paul was very delighted with the hiring. He stated that Williams is a perfect fit for the team.

Williams is an ex - pro basketball player. He was an NBA first-round option in the 1994 NBA draft, despite his pre-existing heart condition, and a small forward for the University of Notre Dame. After playing his freshman year at Notre Dame, he had been compelled to miss 2 seasons following the diagnosis of this condition. From 1994 to 2003, he played 9 NBA seasons. He's competed in 456 matches and landed a total of 2,884 points. He was compelled into retirement by long-term knee problems. His coaching career started in 2005 when he was chosen as an assistant coach for the Portland Trail Blazers.

For the first time in 3 years, New Orleans missed the playoffs this past season. With Williams in charge, they're likely to be better this impending season. Last season the Hornets were only 17th in the league in ppg at 100.2. That number has to get better if New Orleans is to contend next season and cover the odds at the offshore sportsbook. The defense was more of a failure. The Hornets slid to 21st in the league, allowing 102.7 ppg. New Orleans had been known in the past as a challenging defensive team but that was not the case past season. Williams should manage to get better those numbers. David West, who averaged 19 ppg, directed Fresh Orleans in scoring past season. Emeka Okafor directed the team in rebounding while Paul led the team in assists at 10.7 per game.
