- 3). Include the legal name of your New Jersey business, the address of the business, what type of business structure you are using and what your reason is to apply for the tax ID. Reasons include starting a new business, hiring employees or because it is in compliance with the IRS regulations.
- 4). Provide details regarding your business, such as how many employees you expect to hire within the next 12 months, how much you expect to earn within the year and whether or not you have had an EIN before.
- 5). Sign the document with your name and the date of application.
- 6). Fold the form and put it in an envelope with the IRS address on the front. Send the mail with the U.S. Postal Service.
- 7). Check your mailbox 2 to 3 weeks later to find the tax ID from the IRS. It will be included with a letter, which approves the application.
