- 1). Review the income tax return for errors. Verify that both names appear correctly and that the check amount is correct.
- 2). Visit your bank or the bank where the check was issued. You must be accompanied by the other person named on the check. Bring a valid state-issued ID such as a driver's license or state ID card.
- 3). Complete a deposit slip at the branch or endorse the check in view of the teller. Both named payees must be present to cash the check. The banking account does not have to be registered to both parties, but both parties must be present to cash or deposit the check into an account.
