- 1). Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Use shortening to grease the nine- by thirteen-inch pan. Lightly flour the pan after greasing.
- 2). Combine self-rising flour, sugar and dry pudding mix in a large mixing bowl. Sift the dry ingredients together.
- 3). Combine milk, eggs, melted butter and vanilla extract in a small mixing bowl. Beat the wet ingredients for about two minutes.
- 4). Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix the batter on medium-high for two minutes.
- 5). Pour the batter into the nine- by 13-inch baking pan. Bake in the oven for 30 to 35 minutes. Remove from oven when a toothpick inserted into the cake's center comes out clean.
