All About Spyware Removal

A recent survey reported than over 80% of all PC users have been infected by spyware.
In some cases the user is not even aware that they have been infected.
Finding your spyware is the first step, and there are a number of programs you can refer to for this.
After you have found the spyware you will need to remove it.
Removing spyware and other viruses of your computer can be time consuming and frustrating but it is necessary to ensure the safety and security of your computer.
You can make spyware removal much more effective by following a series of simple steps.
The first thing you'll need to do is disconnect from the internet.
The internet is the primary source for most spyware, so close all browsers and applications and then remove the internet cable form your pc.
If for some reason you can't access the back of your computer easily you can simple remove the Ethernet cable from your modem or router.
Removable drives are also known to inherit spyware so be sure that you clean them first and then remove them from your computer so it will not get re-infected when you use the flash drive again.
Surprisingly enough, many spyware applications may come in the form of programs that can easily be removed by uninstalling them.
So before you check anywhere else, go the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
If you find any unwanted programs, highlight them and select the remove button.
Be sure that you don't remove any programs that are essential to your PC.
You should reboot your computer after this.
After you have disconnected your computer from the internet and removed unnecessary programs, the next step will be to run a full system scan.
Many anti-virus programs provide this and in addition they also supply spyware prevention.
The problem is that some spywares and viruses are known to get past certain firewalls.
In addition you could download SpyBot Search and Destroy and scan your computer with that.
The program is freeware and you should be able to find it by simply Googling its name.
Once any spyware has been found, you will offered to either clean, quarantine or delete the file, if a file is essential to your computer you may want to keep it, if it isn't then you should just delete it.
After the spyware has been removed from your computer using spyware removal tool, you'll need to take steps to ensure that it does not come back again.
One way you can do this is by finding a good firewall that will prevent any spyware or viruses from entering your computer.
Also be careful about which programs you choose to install on your computer as this may bypass even a good firewall and infect your computer.
Before installing a program make sure that it comes from a genuine source and that the company is reputable.
Also be careful of any removable devices that go through your computer and be sure to scan them before accessing any files.
