- 1). Place a bed board on top of your box spring and under your mattress. A bed board will help to eliminate mattress sags and rolls by creating a more even sleeping surface. Bed boards are available at medical supply stores or over the Internet. You can also make your own bed board using 1-inch plywood. Make the bed board the same measurements as your mattress.
- 2). Rotate and turn over your mattress every six months. Flip the mattress not only upside down, but top to bottom as well. Rotating your mattress helps lessen sagging and rolling, and extends the life of your mattress.
- 3). Use a mattress topper to aid in smoothing out sags and rolls in your mattress. Mattress toppers are thick covers usually made out of foam, feathers, synthetic materials or latex. Natural latex has hypoallergenic benefits. Purchase 2-inch memory foam for the thickest mattress topper.
- 4). Vary the spots that you regularly sleep on, to help even-out the surface of the mattress. If you tend to sleep more on the side of the mattress, try sleeping in the center. If you sleep more in the center, spend a few nights sleeping on either side of your mattress.
