Religion is a sensitive subject to discuss as there are so many conflicting views and beliefs that, it is bound to bring offence to someone or other.
Nevertheless, maybe it is time we got our thinking caps on and examined what we are being told in the name of so-called "truth" about Gods' teachings! Christian religion is supposed to be based on the Bible and, as far as I am aware, Jesus left us with this law: "love thy neighbour as thyself", or am I mistaken? The thing that saddens me is the hypocrisy and lack of integrity that I see in the name of Christianity.
If you are in a position of religious authority, honesty and integrity are essential qualities to live by.
Certain denominations seem to believe they have all the answers when they do not walk their talk and cause more separation instead of unity, in the name of religion.
One particular denomination of Christians were trying to convert me to their way of thinking.
I explained that I was spiritual and that I tried to respect and accept everyones' beliefs as holding some kind of truth.
After asking them what their thoughts were about the gay community, I was told that they are sinners and have lost their way.
But surely, God made everyone in his image and has told us to love everyone as our neighbour? The reply was "Oh no, in order to be loved by God gay people have to change who they are".
Where is that in the Bible? Did I miss something? Surely Gods' whole point is to show that he loves us unconditionally? How can you hold a judgmental attitude towards other members of the human race and stand there and say you are a Christian? Their particular religion apparently is the "right" one and every other faith is "wrong"! Recently, I had another opportunity to meet some ladies from a different Christian sect.
I asked them a question about what happens to our soul when we die.
The reply was very interesting; we do not have one! Once we die we are dead and turn to dust! Yet, Jesus clearly proved there is life after death! I then cheekily asked, how they explained the god-given gifts that mediums have, to speak with the dead and help people who are grieving heal their lives? The convenient reply was, "That is Satan".
So, they have found God, and the rest of us have found satan! Aren't we lucky! Well, if Satan espouses love thy neighbour as thyself, then he is doing a much better job on this earth than God is! The blind leading the blind! It could not possibly be that they need to revisit their own misrepresentations and lack of integrity! Is it any wonder that religion is becoming unpopular nowadays, when some of its representatives are misrepresenting Gods' true will, not walking their talk, but babbling nonsense and expecting people to follow where they are leading; away from Gods' true and loving words to perdition of their own souls!
