What about that new business opportunity? You really think it's a great opportunity! It fits your schedule! You can make a lot of money if you work hard! It's foolproof! So, why are you not going to get involved or take the plunge? You've been burned by another business opportunity and are afraid to get involve with anything else.
I've heard this many times! I'm not talking about just internet business or better yet just mlm business. My first business opportunity burning was a tire and automotive shop that I bought about 5 years ago. I really wanted to go into the automotive industry and I was determined that I was going to do it. A small oil change business is what I wanted to do. I confided in one of my customers (I was selling chemicals) and he said he would sell me his shop. He seemed to do a good business. He seemed to have all his ducks in a row. I had to have it! This was the answer to my wanting to have a business of my own. Wait a minute; there are things that should jump out at you when researching a business. Don't meet with the prospective seller and his accountant for financial details! When the prospective seller does not want you to talk with his employees until after the sale should lead to some indications there might be problems. And make sure all the equipment is running and even more important, it is the property of the guys who is selling it to you. I can't blame the failure of this business strictly on sneaky doings, but it sure put me behind the 8 ball to start with. It cost me a cool quarter million.
My point to this short story is GET OVER IT! If you get burned by a business opportunity, go back and find something else and work your butt off to make it work. Do more research, become and expert at starting a business by using the failure to learn all you can! You are an entrepreneur. It's in your blood. Others wish they had the guts to do what we do. I try to build different revenue streams in case a deal turns bad for some reason. This way it won't kill everything you've worked for. But whatever you do go back out there and make it work. It will make that failed business opportunity seem so irrelevant! Jamie
