- 1). Remove the clip from the .17 Remington rifle by pulling the metal ammunition clip release, which is located in front of the clip, forward. The ammunition clip will reduce the weight of the rifle and prevent jamming from occurring in the chamber.
- 2). Pull the bolt of the rifle up and back with a quick and efficient motion. This will open the chamber in which the bullet will be placed.
- 3). Insert a single .17 caliber round in the chamber with one hand, while holding the rifle at a downward angle with the other hand. The copper head of the bullet should be facing toward the end of the barrel. Continue to hold the rifle at a downward angle to prevent the bullet from coming out of the chamber.
- 4). Close the chamber by pushing the bolt forward and down in one quick motion. Assume the firing position and fire the single .17 caliber round at the desired target. Continue to hand-load each round individually.
