Facebook Status Lead Generation Technique

Of Facebook's +500 million members how many do you think are prospective buyers of your product or service? This technique is the least annoying, most effective free way to engage them.
This lead generation technique involves reaching out to people on Facebook who have recently posted a status message which indicates they may be interested in your product or service.
Facebook Search Come up with a list of short phrases people might enter as their Facebook status if they were a prospective customer of your services, here's an example table:
  • Your Profession - Status Search Phrase
  • Attorney - Hire an attorney
  • Realtor - Sell my house
  • Business Financier - Need an investor
Facebook itself is actually one of the biggest search engines on the planet with access to search the many millions of profiles, pages, groups and status updates occurring at any given time.
So type these the phrases into the search field across the top of Facebook.
When you type them in a drop down of results will appear, don't click these, click at the bottom of these results where it says See for Results for...
(Your search phrase).
Facebook Posts by Everyone Click Posts by Everyone on the left hand side of your screen.
This will display everyone on Facebook with a public profile (Far too many) who has the phrase your searched in their status update.
For a common phrase like 'hire an attorney' you will get dozens of results (potential leads) a day.
In an intelligent move to limit spam Facebook only displays one page of search results for each phrase.
If you want to more specifically target a status search than do your search in double quotations "Hire an attorney".
Message Results Send a Facebook message to the person.
Obviously they don't know you but most of the time they will assume you are a friend of a friend and be happy to talk to you.
The message you send should have the following qualities:
  • Short - long messages will NOT get read
  • Use their name 'Hey Chris'
  • Specifically tailored to their need (based upon the info in their status update or publicly visible on their Facebook profile)
  • Mention your solution to their problem
  • Contain NO links
Here an example message, Hey Chris, I saw you were in need of a business attorney.
I'm an IP attorney with 5 years of experience.
Can you tell me some more about your situation?
Best Regards,John Tip for Increasing Effectiveness: What you definitely don't want to do is message every person that gets returned as a result.
You want to consider their Facebook status post & any information available publicly on their profile to determine if they are a realistic prospect.
Warning: If you message too many unknown people every day Facebook will red flag you as a devious marketer (Which you are!) and disable your account.
This can be completely avoided by making sure that every person you message is a realistic prospect for your product or service.
Your message to them should be custom and relevant enough to them that you will get a 30% - 50% response rate.
Don't message more than 10 people a day.
If you are doing more then get another verified Facebook account.
Marketers and sales people of the internet: Please use this technique for good NOT evil.
If too much spam occurs because of this technique Facebook will shut down the search Posts by Everyone function and cut off this fountain of hot leads.
