Social networking sites, such as Twitter and Facebook, are an excellent way for people to get to know who you really are.
Even though I do some promotion of my own and affiliate products and services on these sites, the majority of my time is spent in interacting with other people.
This gives me an opportunity to share my thoughts and insights on many issues, while finding out more about thousands of other internet users.
On Facebook I first look at the status update people leave on the home page.
I then update my status, giving information about an upcoming teleseminar or other special event I am offering.
Then I search for groups that have a common thread with what I do in my business online.
My grandmother used to say that you don't have to tell people how good you are; if it is true, they will find out for themselves.
I think about that regularly as I interact with other people online.
Twitter is a great place to show others how much you care.
You have the opportunity to promote other people, and to share their blog posts and other accomplishments by retweeting the information to your followers.
I love this part of the process.
Even though I spend the majority of my time telling my followers about others, many people still find me and sign up to join my list.
Get to know people from around the world by spending some time each day on these sites.
You never know who may be reading your tweets and updates, and how it may help you to build your business in the future.
