Photography as an art has evolved over the ages to become what it is today. Today's modern photography has a number of branches of different specialized types. The professional photographers discover their own expertise in certain branches and pursue that type of photography. Portrait photography is one such branch of photography which focuses on the subject more than its surroundings. Portrait photography is though the oldest form of photography and it has been there ever since the invention of camera. In this kind of photography the photographer brings out the mood or personality of the subject in the picture.

Previously these portraits were captured indoors only, either in a studio or in a room of any kind with the help of the artificial lights. With the modernization and evolution of the techniques and the concepts, the portraits nowadays are also shot outdoors as well, within a natural surrounding and with the help of the natural lights.
