The US navy SEAL requirements are tough and you will have to train for quite a few months before you appear for the recruitment procedure which is well, almost a living hell. The Navy SEAL division maintains exceptionally high standards for selection of SEALs. Their training is exceptionally brutal because of the nature of the operations that they are required to perform. Navy SEALs are required to be able to infiltrate into an area of operations by all possible means to include the use of waterways, land infiltration, and parachuting or other aerial insertion means. They operate behind enemy lines and their trademark is brutal violent force. They hit extremely hard and fast. Whenever they infiltrate they are required to carry large payloads of ammunition and equipment. They are used in a wide variety of applications so they have to have extraordinary endurance and intelligence.

The next level of training is called assessment training. If the candidate passes the basic training requirements he can move on to the assessment training requirements.
Assesment training begins with Naval Special Warfare Preparatory School, Indroctrination, Basic Underwater Demolition BUD/S training, and lastly SEAL Qualification training. Some SEALs are phased out after each phase of training which greatly reduces the number of available candidates.
