- 1). Start playing soccer when you are young. This should include lessons that are sometimes offered in schools or from a local recreation department. Lessons are needed to teach the basics of soccer and moves on the field.
- 2). Attend any free or fee-based soccer camps. These camps teach the player more technical moves and help improve the game play. Continued learning is always needed when a person wants to become a professional.
- 3). Continue playing throughout your school years. It is beneficial to you and your career as a professional soccer player to keep playing and improving your game. Scouts start looking at players in their freshman and seniors years of school. This is when you want to play your best.
- 4). Place all your attentions on the game when there are scouts in the stands. Many scouts will look for ability to play and score and the ability to play defense. It is important that you are playing your best without injury when a scout is watching.
- 5). Select a college or team that has a soccer team. Some people do have multiple offers to play professional soccer, but choosing the right team or college is important. If you are playing for a team rather than a college, you need to consult a financial adviser before signing any contracts.
