- 1). Connect the output of your guitar pre-amp or effects pedal to the input of the Bogen amp. This may require a special adapter or permanent wiring, depending on the input configuration of your Bogen. In some cases, Bogen amps accept high-impedance guitar signals directly. However, these amps have none of the sound-shaping capability of a dedicated instrument amp.
- 2). Connect the Bogen amplifier to a suitable speaker cabinet. Most Bogens accept bare-wire connections on terminal strips. Pick the connection that matches the impedance of your speaker.
- 3). Plug your guitar into the pre-amp or effects pedal. Reduce the volume control on the Bogen amp prior to turning it on. Some Bogens have input control by means of a setscrew on the back panel, while others have a conventional volume control on the front panel. Raise the level slowly while playing until you reach a comfortable volume.
