- 1). Remove bed covers, blankets and sheets from the bed once a week. Set the bed covers and blankets aside.
- 2). Place a clean set of sheets on the bed by stretching the fitted bottom sheet over the mattress. Tuck the elastic rim under the mattress.
- 3). Spread the flat top sheet over the fitted sheet so the patterned side faces downward. Align the hemmed border or the sheet with the top of the mattress near the headboard. Smooth the sheet over the mattress so it hangs evenly over each side of the bed.
- 4). Tuck the overhang at the bottom of the bed under the mattress. Fold the overhang on both sides under the mattress.
- 5). Spread the blankets over the top sheet so the top edge of the blanket rests just below the hemmed border at the top of the sheet. Fold the hem of the sheet down over the blanket and smooth away wrinkles.
- 6). Fold the side and bottom edges of blankets under the edge of the mattress following the same procedure for tucking in the sheet. Some prefer to allow the blanket to hang freely from the sides and bottom.
- 7). Cover with a bedspread or quilt. Smooth the bedcovers with your hands to remove wrinkles.
- 8). Wash and dry the soiled sheets. Remove sheets promptly from the dryer to prevent wrinkles. Fold and store freshly washed sheets in a dry area until it is time to change your bedding again.
- 9). Wash blankets and bed covers twice a year or whenever they become soiled.
