Whether you believe it yet or not, your dog can be trained.
Now don't fault me for saying this but the problem with training them isn't with the dog.
The main problem is frequently the master! Think about it for a moment, if your dog is neurotic then his main problem in life is likely to be you.
A dog's problems could begin when they are puppies.
Thinking like a puppy, when he is just getting started he is taken from his family and given to a complete stranger.
As your dog's master, let's try putting yourself in their shoes, actually paws would be appropriate.
Suddenly, your best friend can pick you up by the neck and put you anywhere he wants you.
Now you can't always sleep on the bed, but are expected to sleep on the hard floor.
You may even be asked to spend most of, if not all of your time out in the cold, rain and snow.
So how are you feeling about now? Please remember that if your dog is neurotic acting, it may be challenging (but not impossible) to teach him that following your commands will really make life better for him.
If he looks around he may feel like he is the only one that must learn anything.
He has never seen that pesky cat of yours being trained to sit or stay, but the cat still gets fed.
It does seem his owner prefers the cat over him at times and this only makes him more neurotic.
Yet cheer up, it is still possible to train a neurotic dog.
It takes a lot of patience on your part but finding the right program and sticking to it until it works is key.
