I've spoken to many women that feel so un-like their normal self while pregnant that they can't imagine capturing that time on film.
When I speak to them again, after their baby has arrived, they often mention how much they miss being pregnant, miss feeling the baby inside of them, and miss being part of that special experience.
They find themselves regretting not having photos to look back on.
They regret not having pictures to show their child.
They regret not preserving the memory.
Even though we feel different enough while we're pregnant that we don't think that we want to remember what we looked like during this time, it's important to remember that the photographs that we capture during this time are about so much more than looks.
They are about remember a feeling.
They are about remembering what we went through, what we experienced, what we did to get our precious baby here.
Once the baby arrives it's easy to turn the camera around and click that button non-stop trying to capture every moment you share with your new baby.
There is a strong desire to freeze time as your infant changes from moment to moment.
As a mother of five, I know exactly how fast those special moments go.
The most fleeting time seems to be the newborn stage.
Those first few weeks as we're getting to know our baby seem to fly by, and before we know it, we no longer have a newborn.
This has been one of my favorite stages as a mom - one that I wish I could freeze forever, yet in the craziness of settling in to motherhood, this stage seems to go quicker than any other.
Because as moms, we lack the freeze button that we so often wish for, I find it so important to capture this special time on camera.
And while I find it important to always have my own camera charged and ready to go, I also see the importance in hiring a professional - someone that is experienced, not only in photography, but also in handling fragile, newborn infants.
I see the value in letting someone else help you freeze your infant's first facial expressions, their first looks, their tiny toes and brand new eyelashes.
I feel that it is important to find someone that will help you remember those first few weeks that you spent together, getting to know each other, and falling in love.
Capture those moments.
Freeze that special time.
Remember forever.
