Jake was found in a dumpster outside of a bar on a very cold Sunday afternoon in December 1995. Some people at the bar found him and brought him inside where it was warm and gave him food. My husband had gone to the bar to watch the football game and was worried about what would happen to him so he brought him home. It was a very lucky day for Jake because he was only about five months old and way too little to be outside in such cold weather.
We already had three cats so he thought one more wouldn't make a difference.
He is 13 now and lives the good life with his little sister Alexandra. His favorite things are drinking from the faucet, chasing his sister through the house and watching people through the front window. His pink nose is like a little barometer. When he's relaxed, it's very pale pink. If he's excited and running around it turns very bright pink. Sometimes when I look at him and his nose is bright pink, I wonder what he's up to.
He is my best buddy and has helped me with many home improvement projects. When I was putting up wallpaper he helped by drinking the water out of my bucket. He helped me with painting by making sure the drop cloth was always thoroughly tangled up and he always helps me make the bed by getting under the sheets when I am trying to tuck them in. His most favorite place is on the bed watching his favorite channel Animal Planet on the TV.

The thought of a kitten having to scavenge for food in a dumpster is heartbreaking.
Bless the people who brought him inside and double blessings on Debbie's husband, who gave him a forever home. Jake's picture was submitted for the 2009 Tuxedo Cats Picture Gallery for May, as are all the Cats of the Week for May. You may submit cat photos by following the Photo Submission Guidelines.
